Installing a Faux Brick Paneling

Faux brick paneling are sheets that look like real bricks but are not.  They are manufactured in sizes that range from 24/36 inches up to 24/48 inches.  Faux brick paneling is easy to install and they can be used on your interior or exterior finishing. It can definitely enhance your wall and make it look elegant and contemporary.

Choosing faux brick paneling depends on what kind of wall you want to have.  If you want your entire wall look like the rugged and cool vintage charm like some well known port city façade, it is not impossible to duplicate it.  You can do some alterations and turn it into a contemporary with shades of antiquity if you want to achieve elegance.  Faux brick paneling can be done all by yourself and practically maintenance free as long as you have the right tools and materials required in putting up the wall paneling.  These are the list of tools needed:
Faux brick paneling of your own choice
            Screws and screwdriver
            Caulking gun
100 grit sand paper and sanding block
            Hack saw
            Tape measure
            Painter’s tape
            Pencil
            Construction adhesive
Protective gear like eye glasses and hand gloves

The first thing you will do is to get the right measurement of the entire wall for the faux brick paneling.  This will give you the right computation on how many sheets you need to buy and at the same time it will serve as guide in cutting the faux brick paneling.  If you are still ordering the panels, the store can cut the paneling according to your desired measurements.  This may add an extra cost but it will save you the labor and time.  Remember to buy extra sheets than you actually need to replace any possible damage during the application.

In case you are cutting the panel yourself, measure the wall and use it as your guide in cutting off the sheets.  Place the faux brick paneling on a flat surface and draw a straight line using the computed measurement as your guide.  Use the painters tape in drawing the line.  Use a hack saw in cutting along the line with the portion to be cut off hanging from the side.  When this is done remove the painters tape.

Using the 100 grit sand paper or a sanding block, carefully sand the sawed edges until it shows a clean finished look.  Stick the construction adhesive tape at the back of the paneling.  Starting from the inner bottom corner of the wall attach the paneling on the wall by using the screws and the electric or manual screwdriver.  This will put the faux brick paneling in place and it will provide a strong hold eliminating the chance of falling off.

Be sure to fill out the screw holes with caulking material that matches the color of your faux brick paneling.  If the color is not available in the market mix the color yourself to make it look like it comes with the faux brick paneling itself.  Use a caulking gun in filling out the screw holes.

Nov we are about finished.  Check the entire wall and see if the faux brick paneling is fit and attached properly.  The uneven edges can be filled out by using the caulking gun. Sand papering the caulked edges will make it clean and even.  Clean up the littered work area and examine your finished job.  If the faux brick paneling resembles like a true brick wall then your job is complete and perfect.
