What is a Step Deck and its Features

Step deck is an open trailer with a standard flatbed section at the front and a dropped section.  Step decks are a great way to transport loads that are too tall for conventional flat bed trailers. The main deck of a step deck is approximately 20 inches lower than the deck behind the 5th wheel, this allows for the safe transport of over-height loads. Ion in the rear, used to transport taller cargo. The step deck trailer is widely considered on of the most versatile trailers in specialized transportation.
A standard step deck is 53 feet long and come with, with dual axles with a sliding rear axle. Are you freight over-dimensional? We have 3 axle step deck trailers which can expand up to an additional 24 feet.

Classification of step deck:
1. Step deck trailer ramps are becoming a standard tool in the trucking industry. Step deck ramps have been designed by an Engineer with 30 years experience in the loading industry and are the lightest, strongest ramps on the market. This drop deck trailer ramp system breaks down into sections weighing 74 lbs allowing it to be set up easily in minutes. The step deck ramp ends pin to an adjustable center support stand and skid seat ramp bracket on the trailer or loading dock. The amendable support stands can change the loading angle onto step deck trailers, loading docks, and flat bed trailers by creating an offset angle or arch. The required skid seat brackets are accessible in steel or aluminum and must be welded or bolted to the trailer or loading dock for safety and versatility to change the width of the ramps to accommodate different vehicles or equipment.
Step deck Trailer Ramp Features:
  • Constructed of lightweight aluminum for superior durability and strength
  • New reinforced double pin stubbed toe at the bottom of the ramp to eliminate ramp curling up at different load heights
  • Versatile and fully adjustable ramp system sets up in minutes
  • Extra wide plate style serrated cross bars offer maximum traction in the rain, mud, or snow
  • Load vehicles from the front, back, or top step with one ramp system
  • Lightest and strongest ramps in the industry
  • Ramps are rated per axle (see maximum vehicle capacities below)
  • Ramp Hanger Storage Brackets available
  • Support Stand Brackets available
2. Step deck Trailer. This trailer is used to haul units that are too high for standard flat bed trailers to transport safely down the highway. Step Deck Trailers can transport pieces up to 10' high and are also available in air ride. A step deck trailer, used by flatbed companies, has a main deck that is lower than the deck above the fifth wheel, but not as low as that of a double drop. The back of the deck is usually level with the top of the trailer tires.
